It's been years
It's been a very long time since I've used this blog. It's weird. But I missed it and I think I'll find some interesting and useful (to me) way of using this blog again. What that use will be, I'm not entirely sure.
Just a quick update, I suppose:
- My country's government is, uh, not good, to say the least. Who knows exactly how bad things will get, how fast they'll devolve, or what I'll do in response to that but, yeah.
- My health has not been great, but I hope I'll be able to finally brave going to the doctor and face whatever it is that's going on.
In terms of personal interests:
- I am pretty much only obsessed with Highlander at the moment. It's all I can think about at times and the only thing that makes my brain light up like a fireworks show. My favorite Immortals: Connor, Methos, Ramirez, Richie, and, surprisingly, Byron.
- I've started keeping a movie journal because I need to remember what I thought about the movies I've been watching. (I mostly watch horror movies and get most excited over them compared to other movies. I've become a fan of slashers, which I never really imagined happening, and gore is a bit more tolerable to me now.)
- I have a book journal...kind of. I just keep detailed notes in my Obsidian (which I have multiple back ups of because, even though I love it because it's offline...It's offline. lol)
- Fountain pens are my passion and I hope to overcome my fear of actually using an ink bottle without mold growing in it soon so I can enjoy my favorite inks.
- I have been too tired to actually read books (the combination of health issues and anxiety about politics and the world at large have left me too drained to focus on actual literature, even though I have several books I'm currently reading), but hopefully I'll get back in the swing of things and start reading again.
I don't really have much else to say. I haven't written as much as I've wanted. I've gotten myself into a pickle wrt writing. I now am much more...well, long-winded. It's good, because it helps me get into the historical fiction I love to write (I've read too many modern books set in historical time periods but with terms and phrases that are so modern they break my immersion in the story, so I resolved to read books from the 1800s to get a feel for the language those authors used and it's helped change my writing style for the better in most cases); but it's not good when I'm trying to challenge myself to write in a more minimalist style so I can focus on the theme of the story which I always feels gets lost when I write in my new style. So, hopefully I'll be able to figure out how to create a schedule for myself so I can actually write more and get in the flow. Like, my goal is to be able to dip in and out of various writing styles so I don't feel limited, especially when writing stories set in very different time periods.
But yeah. I'm not certain how often I'll be using this or how open I'll leave my journal. Maybe I'll clean it up a bit, do some housekeeping as it were. I don't know.
Anyway, I wrote mostly because I'm procrastinating. And partially because I want to keep a digital journal of my hobbies somewhere that isn't just my daily journal.
